This trait was adopted by his adoptive family, who taught him that being bitter is not good. He doesn't seem to be bitter, since he gladly accepts Hendrik's apology and invites him to the group with a warm smile. At first, it seems that he's not a great leader since he sometimes holds back, but after the half of the game, he becomes the great leader he was destined to be. According to Veronica's dialogue, he seems to be a daydreamer and shy.
He is determined, courageous and altruistic. Altough for most of the game he's silent, he does talk (even if we cannot hear him) with his friends and a lot of dialogue between NPC's shine a light of his personality.
